Susan

I am fortunate to live in the beautiful Essex countryside with my kind, supportive (and comedic!) Buddhist fiance Mark and I am blessed with a bright, empathic 21 year old son who is out in the world making a difference. I have spent many years working as a technician in the engineering industry.

After many years of leading a sustainable and plant based lifestyle with a lifelong passion for dance, exercise, health and nutrition, it felt like the most natural decision to take it a step further and train as a yoga teacher. What I hadn’t realised is that yoga is about so much more than the physical movement (asana) and it opened for me a journey of self discovery. I learnt how the asanas combined with breath-work and bandha help to cultivate inner peace and an awareness of the present moment.

I now feel that I have more energy both physically and mentally and, using the high quality yoga practices that I learnt from my teachers, I want to inspire people of all ages and abilities to use asana and pranayama as a way to help them become the best version of themselves. My training has taught me to slow down, open my heart and be more available in the present moment. Yoga is a way of connecting with ourselves again, a reminder that in fact everything in life is connected. Many people find it a challenge to connect with themselves, others and their environment which can lead to depression, anxiety and isolation. I have found yoga and meditation has helped me to focus on my goals and become a better person in my relationship with others around me. It is my intention to live a positive and spiritual lifestyle and I would like to share this with others and help them become the best version of themselves.

I have been vegan for over 3 years now, initially it was for health reasons as with the right balanced natural food choices, it is incredibly good for your body. As I have become more aware of my environment I no longer want to cause suffering to any sentient being for my pleasure of gain. I am also very aware of the impact that intensive livestock farming has on our environment and the quality of our lives. This way of farming is unsustainable and toxic to our environment.

I also have a passion for interior design! Our immediate surroundings have a big effect on our mood and sense of well-being. Differing use of colour, furniture and texture can create interest, give energy, depth, balance and heavily influence the perception of size of a space, and influence our mood. I love to design eclectic, rustic, sometimes exotic spaces, with an emphasis on natural materials and bringing the outdoors indoors. I love to help others create beautiful interiors, providing inspiration with designs and floorplans.
